Laure Prouvost

Laure Prouvost (b. 1978, Croix, France) studied film at Central Saint Martins, attended Goldsmiths, and worked as an assistant to John Latham before moving from the UK to Belgium. She won the MaxMara Art Prize for Women in 2011 and the Turner Prize in 2013 for Wantee, an installation built around a fictional link between her grandfather and Kurt Schwitters. In 2019 she represented France at the 58th Venice Biennale with Deep See Blue Surrounding You. WE FELT A STAR DYING (2025) is her first work on quantum computing. It came out of two years of research with philosopher Tobias Rees and Hartmut Neven, founder of Google Quantum AI, and included hands-on access to a quantum computer.
