Quantum Transformation III: Richter
About this work
Uses Gerhard Richter's colour chart 192 Farben (1966), whose 12 × 16 grid serves directly as the lattice. Every Ising coupling is set to 1 and the measured expectation values on ibm_nazca become colour indices for all 192 squares. Where Richter assigned colours by chance, here the quantum computation alone decides the arrangement.
Technique
Each painting is divided into a square lattice with tile columns assigned to qubits. A Trotterized time evolution under an Ising Hamiltonian runs on IBM superconducting hardware (Qiskit, 4,096 shots, no error mitigation), and the measured ⟨Z⟩ expectation values set the order of the tiles. The chosen result is then painted by hand in oil on wooden panel.
