Part of Heaney's Light and Dark Potential prints on mirrored gold aluminium, which reflect on the possible futures of quantum computing. Also shown in States of Flux (Arcus Pride, Clifford Chance, London, 2026).
Technique
Since 2019 Heaney has written her own quantum code in Qiskit and run it on IBM's publicly available quantum computers. She uses it to scramble and recombine the pixels of scanned watercolours, so entanglement between pixels makes the image flow across the picture plane like a quantum wave.
